It’s Summer, I’m Busy, Get Used to It!

I mean what I say, and I say what I mean. I’ve been gone without a computer for  two weeks now. The first I was at my uncle’s, bored out of my mind. Then last week I was at music camp…soooooo much fun!!!!!!! I love music camp as you can probably tell. But now, if you’re thinking its like that music camp in Raise Your Voice, its not. Its more like choir camp. We get all this music and we have a week to perfect it. We have choir rehearsal three times a day, a music theory class, an instrumental class (Piano II), and an elective (Songwriting/Music Tech). It’s basically like a week in the life of a music major, sort of. Here’s the line up of songs we did this year:

Worthy to Be Praised
Hear My Prayer
How Can I Keep from Singing
Psalm 23 (from “Songs of Faith”)
Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)
The Mind of Christ
My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord
Betelehemu

The last one’s a Nigerian Christmas song. In Nigerian!!! How cool is that?! About ten times cooler than when we learned the one in Latin two years ago. We actually didn’t sing any of the songs the same way as the videos above, but that’s one thing you’ll know if you’re a choir singer. They record the concert and I ordered a CD, so I’ll post the songs when I get that, and you can hear how sang them. The concert was wonderful and had the most amazing soloists. We didn’t sing them at the concert, but some other good praise & worship songs we sang during the worship services were The Heart of Worship, Days of Elijah, Sweeter (our choir sings that!), and You are my All in All.

One thing about music camp is that its been going on for about fifty or so years and their are a lot of traditions such as the Serenade. Basically, all the girls get dressed up and the guys escort us to dinner. They serve us our food and everything. And they have to do WHATEVER we ask them to. They sang Hannah Montana and Spice Girls to me and my friends because we thought it would be funny. And it so was! We have it on video and I’ll post that soon. My friend got pretty devious and asked a guy friend of ours to get some ice, but every time ice started to pour down, he had to stop and spin around. And then we made another guy friend of ours play patty cake with the choir director. After all that, later at night after worship, we go out to the park lot and they gus sing to the girls and the girls sing to the guys. We had five songs ready but because it was so late, we only had time for three each. We sang Love is a Battlefield, Bye Bye Bye, and Love Story. They sang I’m Yours and two other really sweet songs to us that I can’t remember. The guys were so sweet to us all night. And if it had been a contest, they would have definitely won, because our songs were on a computer and Hannah’s dad forgot to bring the speakers so we didn’t have good music. They had a guitar though, which was smart. It was all so much fun.
